DNC member from Michigan files challenge on delegates

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

LANSING (AP) - A top supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton has filed a challenge with the Democratic National Committee to get Michigan's delegates seated at the national convention.

Michigan and Florida have been stripped of their Democratic delegates for holding early primaries.

Under DNC member Joel Ferguson's proposal, Michigan would send 28 unpledged superdelegates and 128 pledged delegates to the Denver convention. Pledged delegates would get half a vote, superdelegates a full one.

Delegates would be allocated based on the Jan. 15 primary, which Clinton won.

The campaign of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama said again Wednesday that the Michigan and Florida delegates should be split evenly between the two candidates.

The DNC is reviewing the information.
