GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say two men found dead inside a Grand Haven jewelry store were both shot in the head in an apparent attempted robbery.

The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety has identified the victims as 61-year-old shop owner Robert Karell of Grand Haven and 77-year-old customer Louis Paparella of Roosevelt Park, near Muskegon.

The double slaying happened Wednesday afternoon. No arrests have been made.

Public Safety Lt. Mark Reiss tells the Grand Haven Tribune that it isn't clear yet whether any merchandise was stolen from the downtown store.

Grand Haven radio station WGHN says the Lake Michigan resort town hasn't had a homicide in nearly a decade.
