McCain-Palin in Michigan

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) _ Thousands have packed into the Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights to hear the newly minted Republican ticket speak at a campaign rally.

Every seat has been taken Friday and supporters are standing in the aisles at the music venue in Macomb County.

Arizona Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican presidential and vice-presidential nominees, are expected to take the stage shortly.

McCain and Palin are campaigning in Michigan a day after the Republican convention ended in St. Paul.

The Democratic ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden visited Michigan last week following their party's convention in Denver.

They spoke to about 17,500 people in Battle Creek on Aug. 31. Obama also campaigned the next day in Detroit and Monroe.
